You may also have heard that <a href=\"https:\/\/www.sslrenewals.com\/blog\/why-google-forcing-to-get-ssl-certificate-on-website\">Google Chrome will distrust the SSL\/TLS certificates<\/a> issued by Symantec and its subsidiary CAs (GeoTrust, RapidSSL, and Thawte).<\/p>\n<p>To avoid this distrust and its security warnings, Symantec customers need to reissue their certificates from new infrastructure as directed by Google. As Symantec sold its CA business to DigiCert, all these certificates will be reissued\/replaced from DigiCert\u2019s PKI infrastructure.<\/p>\n<p>So, when do you need to reissue\/replace your certificate? Do you even need to <a href=\"https:\/\/help.sslrenewals.com\/support\/solutions\/articles\/22000219214-reissuing-your-ssl-certificate\">reissue\/replace your SSL\/TLS certificate<\/a>? Let\u2019s find out.<\/p>\n<p>Further, here are the relevant dates and things to keep in mind before any action \u2013<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>December 1, 2017:<\/strong>\u00a0As of this date, Google has required that TLS certificates no longer be issued by Symantec roots, but must be issued by another CA. As of December 1, DigiCert will be issuing all certificates for Website Security customers.\u00a0<strong>This date does not mandate any immediate certificate changes<\/strong>, but officially transfers validation and issuance of Symantec certificates to DigiCert systems. From this date forward, Symantec customers can begin to request free replacement certificates. These replacement certificates will be valid through the issuance to the end of the certificate validity period.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>~March 15, 2018:\u00a0<\/strong>Chrome beta will distrust certificates issued by Symantec before June 1, 2016. The public release of Chrome is expected on April 17, 2018.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>~September 13, 2018:\u00a0<\/strong>Chrome beta will distrust\u00a0all certificates issued by Symantec. The public release of Chrome is expected in mid-October of 2018.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Confused? But, if you are requesting for any OV or EV SSL Certificate, you will receive the reissued SSL Certificate after the final verification (as per the type of your SSL). The Certificate Authority (DigiCert) will re-validate all necessary details for your SSL order. Don\u2019t worry as DigiCert is THE fastest when it comes to its validation processes. As soon as the certificate has been validated, you will receive an email with your new certificate.
